Notification of one parent governor vacancy on local governing board

We are currently looking for one new parent governor to join our friendly and hardworking local governing body. Our governors have a range of skills and experience, and all share a common interest of wanting the best possible education for all the children in our school and nursery.

We are looking for a person, ideally, with health and safety knowledge (or an interest in health and safety), and/or with experience or an interest in finance.  We would like this person to be a member of the finance and resources committee.

We would be keen to hear from anyone who:

  • Is interested in children’s education and the performance of the school and nursery
  • Is community spirited and would like to represent the community
  • Is committed to promoting the catholic ethos in our school and nursery
  • Has spare time and enthusiasm for the role
  • Is able to work well as part of a team
  • Has an enquiring mind and confidence to ask questions and debate issues that affect the school and nursery
  • Can consider matters objectively and make informed judgements
  • Is willing to learn

There are approximately ten governors’ meetings a year lasting no more than 2 hours;  on a Thursday evening at 7:30pm. There is a substantial amount of reading in preparation for each meeting. It is expected that you will attend and come prepared for all meetings. It is anticipated that this role will take approximately 2 hours per week of your time and initially (in the first 3 months) there are 4 training sessions of 1.5 hours each, that you will be expected to attend on a Wednesday evening.

Further information is available on the nomination form or feel free to speak to Mrs Camp-Overy or Julia Evans (Chair of Local Governing Board).

Nomination forms are below or available via the school office. Please return your completed nomination form to the school office for the attention of the Returning Officer. Nominations will close at 3pm on Thursday 23rd June.

Nominations are invited from anyone with parental responsibility for a pupil registered at the school.

All nominees will be invited for an informal chat with the Chair to ensure that the responsibilities of this role are understood ( 27th-30th June).

If the number of nominations received does not exceed the number of vacancies, the person nominated will be appointed without a ballot.  If there is more than one nomination, a secret ballot will be held, and each parent will be issued with a voting paper.  In the event of a ballot, notice of election will be given to parents by 28th June 2022. The ballot will take place from Friday 8th July to Friday 15th July 2022.

Results of the ballot will be announced on Monday 18th July 2022.
