Catholic Social Teaching

The principles of Catholic Social Teaching underpin all we do at St Edmund Campion Catholic School and Nursery. Our faith calls us to love God and to love our neighbours in every situation, especially our sisters and brothers living in poverty. Following in the footsteps of Christ, we hope to make present in our unjust and broken world, the justice, love and peace of God. (Cafod)

Catholic Social Teaching in 2 Minutes

What is Catholic Social Teaching? Why does it matter for our lives today? In Busted Halo's latest video, we explain the seven themes of this important wisdom from the Church that helps us build a just society and live holy lives in our modern times.

Catholic Social Teaching is based on the life and words of Jesus Christ, who came "to bring glad tidings to the poor...liberty to captives...recovery of sight to the poor" (Luke 4:18-19).

Catholic schools therefore become places where our young people are helped to put their faith into loving actions for others so that their faith can illuminate life and society (Pope Francis, Lumen Fidei 55).

The Oscar Romero Award will support our school in realising and living the unique calling of a Catholic school to become an evangelising centre by empowering young people and staff to become true agents of the change we want to see in the world by putting our faith into action; especially now as schools respond to the challenge of the Coronavirus pandemic (The Oscar Romero Award).
