Safeguarding
St Edmund Campion Catholic Primary School and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We recognise that all adults, including temporary staff, volunteers and governors, have a full and active part to play in protecting our pupils from harm, and that the child or young person’s welfare is our paramount concern.
Our intention is for St Edmund Campion to provide a caring, safe and stimulating environment in which our children can flourish. The environment will promote the social, emotional, physical and moral development of the individual child or young person.
We have a Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place which must be followed by all members of the community. All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child or young person’s welfare.
We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that doing so would be contrary to the child or young person’s welfare.
We have a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs).

If you are concerned about a child or young person’s welfare for any reason at all, please record your concern and any observations or conversation heard, and report to one of the safeguarding leads as soon as possible. Do NOT conduct your own investigation.
If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children or young people) then you should report this directly to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) who will take appropriate action.
