Newsletter 20

Wednesday 21st February 2017

Dear Parents and Children,
Gospel Target
Based on the gospel:  What are you doing for Lent?
Words of the Week
Year 2: aghast; Year 3: collaborate; Year 4: stationary; Year 5: vent; Year 6: escalate.
Talk Homework
Would you like to catch a star? How could you do it?
Can you think of some alliterative phrases e.g. Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers
What is the hardest thing to give up for Lent? Why?
What jobs do you do around the house?
Which personal qualities does a person need to be an Olympian medalist?
Which Station of the Cross means most to you and why?
Rather than having just less of something during Lent – what could you experience more of?
Sporting Fixture Changes
Please ignore the x-country letters sent home recently as the event organizers have now changed the date for a second time. The races will not take place on 1st March, but are now scheduled for Thursday 19th April 9-11. Apologies for the confusion caused.
The girls swimming gala at Claires Court on 1st March will now start 30 minutes earlier at 3pm and children will need to be collected at 2:30 to get them there on time. The event is still due to finish at 4:15
Year 5/6 Badminton Club
The Year 5/6 after school badminton club will be cancelled on Wednesday 21st February. This is due to most of the club members acting as event leaders at the Year 3/4 badminton festival that afternoon.

A meeting is being held in the school hall to discuss the Y5 PGL residential trip to Swindon next November.
World Book Day March 1st
The children will be able to dress up as a book character if they like.  If you don’t have a costume available they can always come in their own clothes and be a reader. We are having a visit from the author Kieran Larwood.
Mrs Camp-Overy will shortly be emailing you with regard to this event.
Mrs Tang Returning
We will be welcoming Mrs Tang back in the last week of term, from her maternity leave.  She will be taking over from Mrs Campbell in Y3.
PTA Quiz
The PTA quiz is taking place on Saturday 24th February at 7.30pm.  If you would like to book, please either drop your money into the school office in an envelope detailing your name, email address and team name or email with your table details.  The cost is £5 per person.
Teams can be made up from between 6 and 8 people. We can help organise a table for you – just let us know your details.
A bar will be available on the night, open from 7.15.  We really appreciate you buying alcohol from the bar; please do not bring your own, as it helps us to raise more money for our children.  Please bring along your own snacks and nibbles.
Nursery Admissions 2018-19
Children born between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016 will be allocated in the academic year 2018-19.
The deadline to hand the Supplementary Information Form (SIF) to the nursery is 28th February 2018. If you require Fr Liam to sign your SIF as per our Admission Policy, he has asked us to let you know that he will be available after Mass during January and February.
