Y6 Cake Sale-Friday October 20th
Whilst in Wales we visited a group of Carmelite nuns and questioned them about their life.  It transpires that they can only have turkey at Christmas if it is donated.  The Y6s are determined that the nuns will have a turkey this year and are holding a cake sale to raise the money and are looking for donations of cakes to sell next week.  Your child can bring up to £1 to spend at the cake sale, which will take place after lunch.
Staff Vacancies
We are looking for two teaching assistants to work with children who have special educational needs.  One of these roles will be temporary. The successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check.  The closing date for application is Tuesday 7th November with interviews on the 16th or 17th November.

Do you work for a company that could donate a prize for our raffle? If so please get in touch with Angela Billson or Margaret Kiernan through the school office or the PTA Facebook page. We would love to hear from you.
We need donations of old bottle bags, gift bags, empty wine bottles with screw lids and full bottles for the bottle tombola. The donation box is in the school reception.
PTA Quiz Evening
This will be held on Saturday 11 November at 7.30pm in the school hall. Bar opens at 7.15pm. Please bring your own snacks. Tables ideally of 6 to 8 people (can be ladies or men only if you want to avoid baby sitters!). £5 per person. To book, please email or drop your money into the school office with team details on the envelope.
Accommodation Needed
For many years now we have been hosting trainee teachers from Bethel University, USA. We are looking for host families to accommodate these students from Thursday 4th to Thursday 27th January.  For some of these days they will be travelling to other countries/places of their choice and for two of the weeks they will be attending various schools around Maidenhead.  You will be paid £320 for their accommodation.  My preference is for two young people to share so that they can travel together, especially if they are coming home late at night. If you are able to provide accommodation please let me know. They are delightful young people; host families in the past have always enjoyed having them.
Half Term Dates
Monday 23rd-Friday 27th October.  The children return to school on Monday 30th October.
Please do ask if anything in the newsletter is unclear.
